Chef @ Home in Kenny Sia's List

i've seen Kenny Sia going to Chef @ Home a few times... and it's now in his list as the BEST PLACE FOR CASUAL DINING... dun play play orr..

a humble person i should say (although he's like damn famous in Kuching) who drives a car that makes some funny eeee..eeee sound when reversing..

i think it should be around 3 times i saw him at our place... the first time he came was pretty late at night already.. around 10p.m .. halfway cleaning up already when he came with his girlfriend... so apparently the service wasn't that good.. it's like once the food and drinks served it will be like 'u eat urs and we clean ours'. he din order much though.. maybe he knew we were closing..

the second time was earlier.. around 9 i think... this time for drink he ordered a coffee latte shake... hahaa... dun know what he feels about the drink... i dun like coffee so i've never tasted the drink myself.. only make..

then the third time he came... even earlier.. around 8 something.. but this time wif a camera... haaa.. i knew what was going to happen... ordered the mocktail called Malaysian Sunrise and Michael Jackson. i tried to make the drinks as nice and as good looking as possible..

michael jackson... why called michael jackson... before surgery he's black and after surgery, he's whiter than anyone in the world...

the most ma huan drink to make and unfortunately for me, he ordered it..see the white layer on top..it's actually fine bubbles or should i say edible foam.. the sprite used to make the bubble cannot be too cold.. otherwise no bubble. and then cannot be too warm. it's a cold drink but has no ice in it... some more.. the sprite has to be newly opened so that there's sufficient gas from the drink..

then malaysian sunrise.. see the colour already know... there's also a drawing on top of the drink... haha i always had fun drawing on this drink...

HAHA... i'm pretty proud to have become a bartender there...

*stole the pictures from his website.. hehe

The Heritage

Food... food... fooooooodddd...
i just love food
well here's another place i've just gone to recently.

BEFORE U PROCEED FURTHER... i would suggest that u prepare tissue... not to rub ur tears but ur SALIVA

it's called The Heritage
if u remember the very first Tsui Hua Lau and loved the food there.... then u should visit this place as it is opened by the chef of the very first Tsui Hua Lau...

The Heritage is located opposite Liwah Hotel... the Mandarin Restaurant at Ban Hock Road... if u dunno... then i should say it's opposite the ex- UPWELL
to be more accurate... it's behind a white building... i think is the brunei building or something...

The Heritage .... the exterior

the interior...

with a mini waterfalllll

and also a carved glass... GREAT ART!!!

Well... what did we order???

Deepfried prawn with yam....

Baked crab shell stuffed with crab meat and cheese and lot's more
it's only found at this place and u need pre order... not in the menu...

after being eaten... crab also has immortal love

then we have the seafood me.....also very nice

we also had the famous cold dish....
there's the drunken cold chicken... preserved squid... green japanese seaweed... then the sour, sour and spicy sea jelly... duck meat and also salad with prawn...

last but not least.. we also ordered the VERY VERY famous smoked fish... also only found here...
my parents are close to the captain of this place so we get to order something that's not in the menu :P
that's because when there was the first Tsui Hua Lau... it's like a family restaurant... every occasion is held there..... YEAH

Causeway Bay Hong Kong Restaurant

went to this restaurant with my family for lunch recently. it can be said quite a new restaurant cause it's opened only one or two months ago. there were so many people.. for the past three times i've been there, still there's a lot of customers. this restaurant belongs to the Lok Thian tauke... really arr.. this tauke is very innovative. he just brings in restaurants of different styles. there's hong kong style, shanghai style, japanese style, thai style and even the new one... indonesian style.

the entrance of the restaurant. this man just spoils the picture... he knew i was taking photo but he still walk past. look at the chairs in front. the tauke knew that this restaurant would be a great success so he provided "sit only" chairs for the customers to sit while waiting for the real "sit and eat" space.

getting to feel being in Hong Kong... but actually cannot larr...

people mountain people ocean... all enjoying their meal

this restaurant has got the modern design... really attracts people.

see all the food posters!!! and the lighting.

we ordered many types of food...

drinks first... we ordered jasmine tea and coffee. coffee was normal but the jasmine tea is unique!!

this is the most unique serving i've ever seen. made me felt like a frog..

then to the main courses...

mushroom chicken mee... quite big portion

hong kong style ham chicken porride with century egg.. NICE!! ordered two portions of this

third one

hot pan sizzling chicken noodle with black pepper sauce..

and last...

baked fish fillet rice with cheese... i like this most...ordered this everytime i come

we also ordered a few side dishes...

their famous dim sum.. siew bee and...

char siew bau... soft and fluffy when hot but when cold, harder than grade A brick... just joking!! i pretty much liked the bau.. eaten four out of the six we ordered.

besides char siew bau, we also ordered char siew puff..

didn't get to eat this cuz it's my mum's favourite... eaten zero out of six... sixkening

lastly and i mean to be the very last....

sago tart. this... i have no comment... i like it but my mom dislikes it.. it's delicious but difficult to eat. the sago drops out from it's cup.

anyway, i like the food there... should give it a 69.5% rating.. and the service also ok... at least no sour papayas. all together, everything cost my dad around 70 bucks..

Chia Heng Restaurant

if u're tired of restaurant choices, why not try the Chia Heng Restaurant?? it's located behind Hock Lee Restaurant. all u have to do is remember the picture and u'll find the place.

this restaurant is a Teochew Restaurant... and it has lots of mouth-watering food...every dish is made from original stuff...e.g. the crab meat they use is not the factory made one but of the real crab... and it's worth too. u know larr... Teochew people are choosy when it comes to food. i have a few types of dish to introduce...

the Chia Heng Restaurant... can u see Hock Lee centre?? if u can't u're blind...

to the interior of the restaurant... a little bit small but classy

even the cloth has class... it's a rose.

the first dish to introduce... the seafood tomato beehoon... should be the nicest in Kuching. with pure seafood.

second dish...hand made tofu mixed with broccoli and fried with Spinach (under the tofu) and with crab meat gravy (the topping is of pure crab meat)

Stewed broccoli with sea cucumber....

teochew style oyster omelette...

cold dish... from the top left clockwise... clam meat with chilli and onion, preserved spicy sea weed, original five spice roll (their specialty) and spicy pork meat.

also, they have the fried kailan leaves with fresh prawns...

lastly, fruits as dessert... free i suppose... automatic serving

all this we ordered is for four person only....and u see it's quite alot rite??

and in return before we leave, we serve them back with this...what does this look like??
